This recreational agriculture area has rich tourism resources.
The featured agricultural products are daikon radish, orange-cultivar
tomato, water snowflake, Hakka blue shirts, oilpaper umbrella, pottery,
and Hakka culture and so on. The White Jade Radish Festival that takes
place every November in Meinong attracts many visitors and it becomes one
of the latest rural experience activities in southern Taiwan.

This recreational agriculture area is located in the north side of Meinong Plain.
The location is perfect with rich resources in agriculture and cultural industry.
This area was approved by the council of agriculture in 2012.
Based on the features, this area was further divided in to nostalgic landscape area,
traditional settlement area, and the riverside scenic area.

【Nostalgic landscape area】
It is located in Fu-an and Minong villages. When visitor comes from Qishan to Meinong by car, the first view is the agriculture area. With the Minong Mountains at the far sight and the diligent farmers work hard at the foot of the mountains, it is the typical image that people who travel abroad have towards hometown. Although the area is quite dry, the land can maintain moist because of the underground water. Therefore, there are plenty of agricultural products during winter season in Meinong, including daikon radish and orange-cultivar tomato.

【Traditional settlement area】
Yong-an settlement was the first settlement in Meinong area. There are complete family houses, tobacco barns, East Gate Tower, Words Respect Pavilions, and other historical architectures. This is the most historical area of Meinong. Besides, Yong-an settlement has Hakka blue shirt, oilpaper umbrella, pottery, and various agriculture products shops, giving a sense of historical feeling.

【Riverside scenic area】
The riverside scenic area at Zhongzheng lake is surrounded by farmlands, and on its north is the traditional settlement, Guang Xing village. Due to the geography and location, there are many vegetables like water snowflake, pickle greens, and ceylon sphenoclea. Guang Xing village is famous for growing sweet potatoes because the soil is dry and not easily to get water in the past. It is one of the features of local industry.

  • Meinong Lake

    It is the second largest artificial lake in Kaohsiung, second to Chengcing Lake. The new established circumnavigating path would offer tourists a choice to walk or to bike, enjoying the mirror-like surface and wonderful scenery.

  • Guang Jin-Sheng Oilpaper umbrella

    Located in the lanes next to the Meinong Lake, which was named after Zhongzheng Lake, Guang Jin-Sheng is one of the stores that still insist on hand made oilpaper umbrella in Meinong area. Not only is oilpaper umbrella available, visitors can also participate in oilpaper umbrella DIY course.

Through the “Farmland reactivation through the promotion of growing landscape crops” project, Kaohsiung city government keeps on promoting the flower sea in farmland, and planning cross year landscape crops area. Making good use of the fallow land and compliance with farmers’ schedule, on the premise that farmers’ subsidies not affected, the government tries to increase farmers’ willingness to grow flowers for landscape purpose.

In accordance with the conditions and needs of each region and taking into consideration the handling of cases in the previous year and with the promotion of local agricultural activities and press conferences, we expect to see such benefits as the crowds of tourists, the local leisure industry, and the marketing proceeds of agricultural products.

Meinong themed flower farmland is located at the adjoining agricultural land near Zhongzheng Lake, the farmland of both sides of Meinong folk village, both sides of the farmlands that at the cross of Zhongshan Road and Guangshan Hall, and Both sides of the farmland near High way No.10 exit to Liugui along Zhongxing Road (Provincial Highway 28).

    Rice is crystal clear and sweet with the sweet taro release in the chewing. Either the gift box or the small pack of the rice shows the shiny diamond like rice that Meinong is deeply proud of.

  • Meinong red bean

    The domestic red beans do have Agent Orange and wax. The red bean selected by Meinong Farmers’ Association is the safest choice. The products have traceable agricultural number. The red beans were sent to the Farmers’ Association to test if there were pesticides left. After the checking, the products were packed and ready for the market.

  • Meinong pickled daikon radish

    With years of pickled, the old radish has black and shiny surface and is the best nutrients food for winter which is also beneficial for bronchus.

    Meinong Renzishan Chicken Farm has capon and free range chicken. They use organic way to feed them. Chicken would run and walk around the wide Litch garden and hill slope, growing up in a natural and broad environment.
